I've been before last year, went again in December. The food is absolutely superb and definitely the biggest reason to go. However, the staff were very slow and unfriendly last time we went. It's also a little on the pricey side.
This is a very special place for my partner and my self. Our absolute favourite pub in st Albans .Edward and I have come with our doggy when she was alive .She would pull on her lead to go in. Even the times we were walking home . Made us laugh so much.!!! Staff are brilliant and the food is AMAZING. !
Excellent, cosy pub with great selection of well-kept beers.Ingredients for the food are locally sourced/foraged and the menu is very creative. As others have said, the menu is a bit small/limited if you dont like game, but it works fine for me personally. Probably the best Sunday Lunch in St Albans!
Nice enough pub and, if youre a meat-eater then its great. But theres no fish or chicken main meals: its all very game-y. And to be charged 14.50 for a veggie burger made of beetroot, with a handful of chips, was really disappointing: they charge the same as for beef burger.
Superb food. Menu is always interesting; unusual but cleverly constructed dishes. Excellent beer selection too. Lovely atmosphere. Very relaxed.
