Beautiful property inside and out set in a lovely garden sloping down to the river - a winter only river really. Excellent staff and plenty of them fetching and carrying the delightful dishes to table. I loved the Malaysian fish stew and my friends chicken, and the lamb shanks were high rated too. I'd go back again to both eat and look at all the interior decorations in the main areas and the private dining rooms. Fascinating place with a surfeit of historical connections.
The food was very nice and the staff were helpful and considerate. The building was lovely, warm, clean and well decorated. The service was also quick.
Great warm comfortable surroundings, good selection of beers. There was a good choice of food on the menu, I enjoyed the steak and ale suet pudding. Very attentive and efficient staff. Great place for lunch!
I first went here with a club and all of us where over fifty, we all loved it. It's in beautiful grounds and has been decorated in such a way that it is very calming. The food is very nice and tastes cheffed. Because it was so nice I have since taken friends and my son who is in his 20s. He said its a place you just want to relax in with a good pint. It really is a must even if you just want a coffee by the roaring fire.
